Singapore's NODX grows by 7.7 pct on year in August

SINGAPORE, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's non-oil domestic exports (NODX) grew by 7.7 percent year on year in August, after the revised 5.9 percent increase in the previous month, Enterprise Singapore, a government agency, announced on Thursday.

On a month-on-month seasonally adjusted basis, the NODX increased by 10.5 percent in August to 15.6 billion Singapore dollars (about 11.48 billion U.S. dollars), following the previous month's 1.2 percent increase.

In a breakdown of Singapore's total NODX, the electronic NODX increased by 5.7 percent year on year in August, after the 2.8 percent increase in July. Meanwhile, the non-electronic NODX increased by 8.3 percent year on year, after the revised 6.9 percent increase in July.

The NODX to Singapore's top 10 markets as a whole grew in August, though exports to Indonesia, China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Malaysia and Thailand declined.

Singapore's NODX to the Chinese mainland increased by 24.5 percent year on year in August, compared to the previous month's 5.4 percent decrease.

In a breakdown, the electronic NODX to the Chinese mainland grew by 9.2 percent year on year in August, while the non-electronic NODX grew by 27 percent.
