Veteran singer Elton John is set to record a new album with southern rocker Leon Russell and hit maker T-Bone Burnett.

In a post on his website, longtime Elton John collaborator Bernie Taupin writes: 'The album is varied in scope and drenched in a rich tapestry of atmospherics.'

Burnett, who has been nominated for the Oscars this year for his Crazy Heart song 'The Weary Kind', will produce the project. Neil Young and Booker T. Jones are also reported to be guests on the unnamed album, reports contactmusic.com.

The project will be Elton's first studio album since 2006's 'The Captain and the Kid' and it will be Russell's first since he underwent brain surgery this year.
