Jail for US citizens linked to Pakistan terror
Malaysia News.Net Tuesday 15th December, 2009
Two Americans, linked to two Pakistan-based terrorist organisations, have been jailed for supporting terror groups and providing them with material aid for attacks in the US and abroad.
The two men, Pakistan-origin Syed Haris Ahmed, 25, of Atlanta and Bangladesh-origin Ehsanul Islam Sadequee, 23, of Roswell, Georgia, to 13 and 17 years in prison.
Both prison terms will be followed by 30 years of supervised release.
US district Judge William Duffey told the men: "This is not about your faith, this is about your conduct. This is about the rule of law in this country that you have decided does not apply to you."
Sadequee and Ahmed were charged by the FBI after it was found they had been in contact with the leaders of Lashkar-e-Taeba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, to whom Sadeequee and Ahmed sent video clips of possible terror targets in the US.
