Bin Laden whereabouts pinpointed
Malaysia News.Net Friday 4th December, 2009
The BBC has reported a conversation between a Taliban detainee in Pakistan and a US interrogator, with claims made that Osama bin Laden's whereabouts were known this year.
Leading US terrorism experts have said the story is plausible and should be investigated, especially by the CIA and M16 who have been looking for bin Laden for the last seven years.
The BBC said the detainee had claimed to have met Osama bin Laden numerous times before 9/11 and in January and February of this year, along the border in Afghanistan.
According to the detainee, he was able to meet bin Laden in Ghazni province through a Mehsud tribesman contact who was responsible for safely getting al-Qaeda operatives to meetings with Bin Laden.
The province of Ghazni in eastern Afghanistan has a strong Taliban presence.
Large parts of the province are unable to be passed by coalition and Afghan forces, leaving it up to drone aircraft to penetrate the area.
The detainee said militants had been avoiding Pakistani territory because of the risk of US drone attacks.
