Oprah to leave the small screen

US talk show star Oprah Winfrey will stop production of her influential daytime show in 2011.

Ms Winfrey, who will make the announcement of her show on Friday, has said she now wants to concentrate on the launch of her own TV channel.

It has been reported that Winfrey, who is becoming an entertainment entrepreneur, will cut the ribbon in 2012 on the joint venture between Winfrey and Discovery Communications, a cable channel which was to have opened in 2010 but suffered through a number of technical glitches.
