Union takes BA to court over job contacts
Malaysia News.Net Friday 30th October, 2009
The Unite union in the UK has said it will take legal action against British Airways, in an effort to stop it imposing new pay and conditions on cabin crew.
The new contracts are due to be brought in by BA on 16th November.
The airline company will argue in Britain's High Court that the changes are not contractual so can be brought in without the unions' consent.
Because BA wants to cut the number of cabin crew on long haul flights by one, the union has said existing crew will have to absorb extra responsibilities, making it a contractual change.
BA has already held talks with the union to avert a dispute with BA's check-in workers over future job losses. Email this story to a friend
