Malaysian Indian woman seeks help for kidney treatment

A desperately ill Malaysian Indian woman suffering from kidney failure has sought the help of the public and the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) for raising funds so she can be treated in an Indian hospital.
P. Sivasakthi tried the traditional medicine route but now finds that she can no longer avoid dialysis, surgery and a possible kidney transplant.
According to MIC Youth Wing Coordinator T. Mohan, who sent out an appeal, Sivasakthi has used up her husband's provident fund money and most of the family's savings for the thrice a week dialysis that costs about $650 a month.
Her brother was willing to donate one kidney if the expenses, estimated at $23,000, were taken care of, The Star said Wednesday.
The family from Puchong, Selangor state, has two sons who have just begun earning enough to take care of the day-to-day expenses, the newspaper said.
MIC, that traditionally speaks for Malaysia's two million-plus ethnic Indians, takes up hardship cases by making its contribution and then makes public appeals.

I suggest MIC to take this issue up for a nationwide contribution thru the newspapers.

Kidney Transplant
Since the brother wants to donate his one kidney to his sister, why not the operation be done locally and the Weifare Department of Malaysia take care of the expenses.

MIC
Just for the record MIC has undertaken a lot of this type of projects of assistance. I know of a few cases in need where MIC had helped. Despite the negative publicity, I hope the opposition could things like this
